I’ve never heard of Mike Mitchell until this morning while stumbling through the web. Wow, his art is a joy to behold. His inspirations run the pop cultural gamut of video games and movies but certainly are not limited to these themes. From his site you can access his blog as well as his Etsy site for selling merchandise of his work. I can’t wait to get home from work, I am ordering the “My God, I’m Delicious!” shirt. Kneel before Zod!
This election is almost as bad as the last one. We have two mainstream candidates: an elderly man who seems rife with senility and his trite beauty pageant loser sits on one side while on the other is a constitutional lawyer who votes against the constitution. Between a grandfather I don’t think has the ability to run a country (much less his pre-school teacher running mate), and a man I know understands the constitution better than I can ever hope to and still votes for laws tat go against it. I feel like I have no one to vote on.
Then I found Zod! Probably the only candidate out there who speaks the truth:

“Please insert the original disc instead of a backup (1000).” Part 4

"Hello EA! Yeah, another sucker paid money for one of your games!"
Damn am I a sucker. In case you haven’t read the previous 3 parts, please have a gander at parts 1 & 2 and then part 3. To save you some time, here’s the basic situation: After legitimately buying every expansion pack for the Sims 2 and a few item add-on packs, my game started telling me the original disk I inserted was not an original disk. Basically EA is accusing me of piracy and is no longer allowing me to play a game I have invested close to $500 into over the last 6 years. To say I am pissed is a grand understatement. As a smart consumer, I should have learned my lesson and obtained a pirated copy of the new expansion Apartment Life since EA refuses to play fair then why should I? But no, I am a damn fool and I bought the expansion to see if installing it fixed my issue. It did, for one session. After I restarted my PC it went back to telling me I was using a copy and not the original. Taking advice from a friend, I installed a new DVD drive. That also worked for one session until I rebooted and am right back to being denied playing my new game. Fuck you EA for punishing me for buying your damn game! I’d very much like to shove my game cases down the collective throats of EA executives who thought this sort of anti-piracy was a good idea.
So I have now obtained a crack of the expansion and will be installing that tonight. If that works then I will do all in my power to spread the word that pirating EA games is the only reasonable thing we as consumers can do. EA already has enough of my money and I have almost nothing to show for it. If that fails to solve my issue then I am erasing my HD (need to anyway) and starting over from scratch.
UPDATE
A friend of mine sent me a torrent to download a “no-CD” crack for Apartment Life and it solved my issue. Where EA continuously failed to send me acceptable troubleshooting instructions, this crack succeeded. Not only does my legitimate product no longer accuse me of using a copied disk, it shaved almost a minute off my load time. Now in my situation, I paid money for the expansion and feel no problem with getting the crack to solve my issue. If EA won’t play fair I’ll go to other resources. I won’t publish where I got the crack from, but if you are savy enough you can easily find the “reloaded” version of Apartment Life on most any reputable Piracy site as well as any of the previously released expansions.
Speaking of piracy and EA, check out this great exchange between the Pirate Bay and EA. First EA tries to legally strongarm the Pirate Bay into taking down fully legal sites, the Pirate Bay responds in kind with an elegant sarcasm that has become their trademark.

Have you seen the trailer to Bill Mahar’s new film Religulous? I imagine many of those peace-loving religious types, you know the ones who get all violent and screamy when they don’t like the message in a movie they are never going to see anyway, are going to be up in arms about this. Hell, I was up in arms about the last Paris Hilton movie, I mean in what country can we allow trash like this to make a movie and insult my sensitive moral structure… Oh wait, I don’t talk like that, only zealots talk like that. I just figured it sucked and would never see it. Even if you hate Bill Maher, see this movie just to piss off your religious neighbors.

Who cares!… It’s the freaking lead singer of Sex Pistols selling butter and that’s something I would never have believed 20 years ago. Love him or hate him, he’s one charming curmudgeon.

Mamoru Oshii Ghost in the Shell 2 Innocence by Arvo

I came across this awesome Mamoru Oshii Ghost in the Shell 2 Innocence LEGO model created by Arvo at the Brickshelf. The detail is pretty amazing, especially when you see how he did the internals. Mini-hydraulic pistons attach to each of the exposed flaps giving the impression they can be easily opened or closed; not sure if they are functional or just cosmetic.

The new trailer for Oliver Stone’s “W.”

Hola loyal readers. Sorry I have been in absentia for the last month. I recently moved into a new house. Within a week of moving in, hurricane Ike hit the coast and my family came to stay with me until it passed. They live in Beaumont, Tx. and wasn’t sure their home would still be standing. Luck has it that they still have a home. Their neighbors were not so lucky. My mother tells me her yard is covered with insulation from the neighbors home which was totally destroyed. I don’t even think they have electricity yet. I grew up in Beaumont and have experienced many hurricanes. I can honestly say they are getting worse. Each one seems to bring more destruction than that area has seen since the 60’s. I imagine I will be seeing my family come stay with me more and more often until the really big one hits.
But now that this is over I can get back to having fun and taking care of business (like this blog).
Oliver Stone is about to release his new movie “W.” The first trailer was short and didn’t have much going on, this one has much more about the film. I can’t wait for this movie!

Football Fans Stand Up Against Abuse By Security

I haven’t been writing much this last month; Miss Zee and I moved into a new house along with Harlancore and we’ve been busy setting it up. But I came across something this morning that made me light up, it so instilled in me a sense of pride I had to share it. In the footage you will see a harmless fan running across the field of a football game waving a sign. He’s unarmed and posing no danger to anyone. The police security guards don’t see it this way, four of them tackle him and then begin to beat him with their batons. Listen to the crowd as soon as they notice the fan is being beaten, they turn hostile and jump the field and start to beat one of the police guards. THIS is how a democracy really works! When fascists begin to abuse the populace with excessive and abusive force, we the people should rise up and take a stand. When you see your fellow man being assaulted, be it by citizens or “authorities”, you have a duty to stand up for what is right and just, otherwise you allow fascism to creep into your country, you allow yourself to be controlled and owned. If more people got out of their seats like this and told the “authorities” there is no way we are going to let you wrongfully beat civilians, that there is a price to pay for such abuse and that price is immediate, we would be on the way to taking our own country back. At 1:17, you can see one fleeing guard kicked in the ass as he tries to escape the arena (leaving his downed comrade behind as he does so). Note how the guard who liked to punch people with his stick is the very first one to flee when attacked, and also leaves his pals behind. when If we kicked more bad fascists/cops/guards in the ass when they overstepped their powers, we’d have much better country.
I’m not certain, but from the language and the banners I think this is in Portugal.
